Institute of Tai Studies and Research  (ITSAR)

  It is the first Institute of this kind of India dedicated to promoting knowledge about the various Tai people of the world; their language and literature. The Institute of Tai Studies and Research ITSAR was established in 2001.




The Institute of Tai Studies and Research (ITSAR), is a Tai language teaching institute in Moran, Charaideo, Assam, India. It is an affiliate autonomous institute under Dibrugarh University and offers a one-year Tai-Ahom language diploma course and a three-month certificate course in spoken Tai-Ahom language affiliated to Dibrugarh University.  In every year many foreign scholars from the Tai populated countries like Australia, Germany, Japan, Thailand, China, and Myanmar (Kachin and Shan state) come to the Tai inhabited areas of Assam, Northeast India in search of primary research materials i.e. Tai Manuscripts, on various aspects of the Tai people in North-East India.  In the event of this, the establishment of Institute of Tai Studies and Research (ITSAR) is an academic venture which has the potentiality of attracting the scholars, students, and tourists, especially from the Southeast Asian Tai populated countries to Assam.

ITSAR 


Objectives
1.To disseminate knowledge of Tai Society, language, literature, culture, polity, economy etc.
2.To study different aspects of ethnic communities of Northesat India.
3.To maintain a Library and a Documentation centre.
4.To organize Seminar, Lecture, talks and Workshop.
5.To undertake research projects.
6.Publication of books, Journals, Bulletin etc.
7.To maintain Ethnic Museum -cum Archive








Infra Structural Facility

  • Three Storied Building for its functioning with the provision of a Library,
  • Documentation centre cum Archive,
  • Conference Hall,
  • seminar Room and Office Chamber.
  • Besides there is a Water Fountain and a Decorative Entrance Gate in front of its building.
  • A Guest House at the back of the main building for Scholars.

Many workshops were organized by ITSAR. Some of them are -
